Jamie Slate is a songwriter from North Carolina.

His songs are Americana-Fusion tunes, which borrow from the traditions of bluegrass, country, blues, and original rock-n-roll.

Growing up as the youngest in a musical family, he naturally became interested in music as he listened to rock, blues and country music from the 1950s and 1960s.

He played in several bands in his youth as either a six string guitarist or a bass player. Coming of age in the 1980s led to bass playing gigs for Braxton Bragg (country covers,) The Trouble With Harry (rock and pop covers and Jamie's originals,) and Straight No Chaser (blues, southern rock & classic rock covers.)

Life took over and so a break was needed from live performances for two decades, though more songs were written.

Stories of Life, which was released in 2016, was Jamie's return to the professional music world and featured several genres such as 50s style rock and roll, southern rock and alternative country. This 6 song EP was supported by Jamie performing as a solo act including summer tours.

This was followed with Sloppy Budgrass, recorded in vintage style with a live band and using a vintage ribbon microphone. The LP includes three bluegrass-fusion songs, a blues song as well 4 additional tunes including another 50s style rock and roll song and a comedy country song. This LP was supported by Slate & Rev Rich performances in NC and VA.

Solo acoustic EP's were released thereafter. SMILE was released in 2018 and features two connected songs. Carolina Feeling was released in 2019 and features 3 new original songs and 3 previously released songs unplugged. These were supported by Jamie's solo performance schedule.

Jamie's new single Just Another Day is scheduled for an October 2022 release, which will be followed by Boogie Woogie Shoes in April of 2023.

The show schedule for 2023 will be released soon. Please stay tuned and connected.
